NANCY SORENSON

LIBERAL- Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar for Nancy Ann Sorenson, 80, Liberal, who died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021, at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kan. Burial will follow in Liberal City Cemetery.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to Mindenmines Christian Church, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Charles; one daughter, Kimberly Dermott and husband Joel, Liberal and one son, Charles Sorenson and wife Doris, Joplin; four grandchildren, Amanda Davison and husband Dustin, Liberal, Sara Watson and Lindsey, Greenfield, Tucker Dermott and wife Jess, Wheaton and Jacob Dermott, Liberal; five great-grandchildren, Rowdy Davison, Kyle Watson, Riley Watson, Ava Lombard and Carter Lombard; two sisters, Linda Shomin and husband John and Jerri Workman and husband Jerry, all of Liberal.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Everett Vance.

Mrs. Sorenson was born June 11, 1941, in Pittsburg, Kan., to Walter Leroy “Bud” Essex and Willie (Riley) Essex. She married Charles Clinton Sorenson on Oct. 24, 1959, in Liberal.

Mrs. Sorenson was a housewife and lifelong resident of Liberal. She loved cooking, decorating cakes, sewing and quilting. She also enjoyed teaching Sunday school and singing and was a member of the Mindenmines Christian Church.
