VELMA LOUISE BRAUBURGER

GOLDEN CITY- Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church in Golden City for Velma Louise Brauburger, 93, Golden City, who died Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, at Good Shepherd Community Care in Lockwood. Burial will follow at Morehead Cemetery in Lamar.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to the Alzheimer's Association or Gideons International, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include one son, Scott Brauburger and wife Janice, Carthage; one daughter-in-law, Danna Brauburger, Nixa; three grandchildren, Rachael Allen and husband Darreon, Bentonville, Ark., Emily DeWeese and husband Terry, Wahiawa, Hawaii and Lyle Brauburger, Nixa; two step-granddaughters, Susan Fodor and husband Stephen, Carterville and Shelly Kyte, Quaker Mills; four step great grandchildren, along with four step great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Kathryn Sullivan, Golden City and one aunt, Rubye Sullivan, state of California and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Lyle Wayne and Gary “Joe”; one daughter-in-law, Debbie; one brother, Jack Sullivan and one sister, Norma Parnell.

Mrs. Brauburger was born April 20, 1928, in Golden City, to Floyd Bertrand and Emily (Litle) Sullivan. She married Willard Leon Brauburger on March 12, 1949, in Golden City.

She had worked as a homemaker and a farmer's wife. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Golden City. She was also a member of the Lions Club, was an EMT with the Golden City Ambulance for 12 years, was a daycare prekindergarten teacher, was a member of the United Methodist Women, Marion Township treasurer and a Sunday school teacher.

Mrs. Brauburger’s hobbies included gardening, counted cross stitch and her collections of angels, bells, cardinals and nativity scenes, along with being an avid card player.
