JASPER-Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Greenlawn Cemetery in Jasper for John Perry Smith, 60, Jasper, who died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, at Weng Funeral Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Survivors include his mother, Mary E. Smith, Jasper; two brothers, Ronald Smith, Harrisonville and David Smith, Jasper and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Smith on April 17, 1981.

Mr. Smith was born Oct. 7, 1955, in Independence, to James Joseph and Mary Elaine (Cooper) Smith. He had worked as a brakeman for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for 13 years and then as a self-employed backhoe operator until becoming disabled. He was a member of the Jasper First Baptist Church.
