LAMAR- Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Lamar United Methodist Church for Janet Marie Curless, 90, Lamar, who died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her family. Burial followed in Lake Cemetery.
Contributions are suggested and made payable to Barton County Community Foundation or Hearts and Hands for Humanity or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her son, Charles Curless and wife Nancy and daughter, Jerri Finley and husband Craig, all of Lamar; six grandchildren, Amy Marrone and husband Mike, Julie Bennett and husband Bo, Ann Killmon and husband Jason, Ryan Finley and wife Carri and Melissa Finley and Matthew Finley; seven great-grandchildren, Emma Bennett, Avery Bennett, Tate Bennett, Jack Killmon, Laila Killmon, Kyler Finley and Jaden Finley.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Thomas Wallace Streeper and one baby sister, Carolyn Sue Streeper.
Mrs. Curless was born Nov. 1, 1931, in Lamar, to Thomas Albert and Reba Alberta (Griffin) Streeper. She was a 1949 graduate of Lamar High School. She married Charles Emmett “Bub” Curless on Oct. 15, 1950, in Lamar.
Mrs. Curless worked alongside her husband in various businesses throughout their married life, especially Hillcrest Lanes, which they built and opened on their 10th wedding anniversary, October 15, 1960. She was a member of the Lamar United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, Red Hat Society, Methodist Women, JOY, Elks and several bridge clubs.
