GOLDEN CITY- A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Monday at Greenwood-Kistler Cemetery in Golden City for Dorothy Mae Wirth, 94, Golden City, who died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022, at Good Shepherd Community Care in Lockwood.

Arrangements were under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to Greenwood-Kistler Cemetery, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include a son, Gaylen Wirth, Carthage; a daughter, Tami Mayfield, Lamar; a daughter-in-law, Sherry Wirth, Springfield; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; a son, Gary Wirth; a grandson, Jamie Wirth; two sisters, Nadine Stansberry and Leta Belle Moore and three brothers, Leland Harris, George Harris and Gene Harris.

Mrs. Wirth was born Aug. 27, 1927, in Kenoma, to Lester Harris and Ruth "Fern" (Nall) Harris. She attended Golden City schools, graduating in 1945 and was a lifetime area resident.

The married Wesley Wirth on March 22, 1948, in Harrison, Ark. They raised three children on their rural Dade County farm and shared 73 years together before his passing.

Over the years, Mrs. Wirth worked at the local bank, prepared taxes and was a dedicated farm wife and homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, baking and family and was affectionately referred to as "Memom" by those closest to her. She was a longtime member of the Golden City United Methodist Church.
