AMI PIERCE

PITTSBURG, Kan.- Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Iantha Community Center (Iantha Methodist Church) for Ami (Oyamada) Pierce, 35, Pittsburg, who died Friday, Jan. 25, 2022, following a prolonged battle with cancer.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, at the community center.
Arrangements are under the direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home, Lamar, Mo.
Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to her son Benjamin’s college fund, made payable to Danny Pierce or Roger Marti, and sent in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband Danny and son Benjamin; her parents, Tadashi and Hitomi Oyamada, a brother, Shimpei Oyamada, wife Naomi and a son and a twin sister, Mai Kobayashi and husband Katsuya and their children, all of Tokyo, Japan; a brother-in-law, Bobby Pierce and wife Angela; a sister-in-law, Charlene Strong and husband Dustin; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Charley and Carol Pierce and her “American family”.
Mrs. Pierce was born June 24, 1986 in Sakura, Chiba, Japan to Tadashi and Hitomi (Watanabe) Oyamada. She had a love of all things American and was hosted by her “American family”, Roger Marti and Nancy Jamerson and attended Liberal (Mo.) High School from 2004-2005.
Following her year as a foreign exchange student she returned to Japan to graduate from Hosei University. She returned to the United States after graduation to pursue an education in nursing, graduating from Crowder College, Nevada, Mo., with an Associates of Science in Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse at Freeman Health Systems in Joplin, Mo., where she worked on the Cardiac Medical Unit (CMU) and Medical/Oncology.
She married Danny Pierce on July 5, 2014 in Liberal, Mo. and the couple was blessed with a son, Benjamin Hajime Pierce, on Nov. 16, 2016.
Mrs. Pierce was a proud woman who loved others first.
