LIBERAL- A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m.Sunday at the Kneeland Building in Liberal for Donald Taylor, 72, who died Friday, Feb. 11, 2022, after several months of bad health.

Arrangements are under the direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home in Lamar.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa, of the home; his children, Barbie James and Jimmy Taylor, Arma, Kan., Nicklas Thompson, Beth Bazal and husband Joe, Tony Spurling and wife Jaime, Rachel Spurling and Ashlee and Amy Spurling and Brittany, Liberal; his grandchildren, Jonathan, Katie and Madison Saxinger, Quincy, Kellen and Natalie Bazal, Riley, Ragan and Remi Spurling, Ella Spurling and Izabelle Sprouls-Twenter and a brother Paul Helms and wife Tammy, Mindenmines.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Helms, Mary Sinclair and Betty Madison and infant son, Donald Ray Taylor, Jr. He also leaves behind many friends who will miss all those stories.

Mr. Taylor was born June 9, 1949, in Pineville, to James and Clara (Mitchel) Taylor. Soon after, Clara married Lee Helms who raised him as his own. He graduated from high school and joined the Army, serving nine years in Vietnam and in Germany. He later worked in construction building roads and bridges. He and his second wife Norma owned and operated the Sugar Shack Bar in Liberal for several years. He went on to work for, and retire from, TAMCO in Lamar. In April of 2015 he married Teresa Hutching. He enjoyed camping, taking his old Ford to car shows and spoiling the grandkids.
