LIBERAL- Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Barton City Cemetery in Liberal for Patricia Sue McKay, 89, Liberal, who died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022. A visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 10:30 a.m., at Konantz Warden Funeral Home in Lamar.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Barton City Cemetery or a charity of donor’s choice, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include Mary Lou Sechrist, Joplin; a niece, Carol Clark, Bella Vista, Ark. and several other nieces and nephews; several stepchildren including Janet Vahle and husband Russell, Warrenton, Bobby McKay and wife Linda, Liberal, Jeanne Hoover and husband Lynn, Liberal and Jay McKay and wife Tricia, Liberal; 10 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two husbands; a brother, Gorden Sechrist; a sister, Gerladine Mitchell and nephews, Mike Mitchell and Pat Mitchell.

Mrs. McKay was born Jan. 14, 1933, at Mt. Carmel Hospital in Pittsburg, Kan., to Gerald and Grace (Hodge) Sechrist of Liberal. She grew up in Liberal and graduated from Liberal High School in 1950. She married Karl Fast on Sept. 17, 1950, at her parent’s home in Liberal. They moved to a 40 acre farm in Liberal after he returned from service in Korea in January of 1953. They lived on the farm until his sudden passing from a massive heart attack on March 1, 1995. Mrs. McKay stayed on the farm until selling it. She married Bob McKay on February 14, 1999. They lived between her home in Lamar and his farm four miles west of Liberal and then built a home and moved there in March of 2004.
