DANIEL MCCANN
STRAFFORD- A graveside memorial will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter at a later date for Daniel Jeffery “Jeff” McCann, 60, Strafford, who died in the early morning hours of Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, surrounded by loved ones.
Arrangements are under the direction of Holden Cremation and Funeral Service, Sparta.
Survivors include his wife and love of his life, Lorie McCann, of the home; daughters, Kristy McCann, Strafford, Rachel Pennington and husband Brandon, Lockwood, Ashley Sherron and husband Jesse, Lamar and Abbey Warren, Marionville; sons, Matthew McCann, Springfield, Justin Stepp and wife Andrea, Wichita, Kan. and Andrew Hood, Branson; a bonus son, Tyler O’Neill; a niece that was just like a daughter, Kimberly O’Neill and husband Brian; granchildren, Tyren and wife Chyanne, Tahya, Nevaeh, Kinley, Blakelynn and Jaxon; sisters, Debbie Long and husband John, Cassville, Kenda Foster, Sarcoxie, Becky McCann and Robin Harrison, both of Aurora, Samantha Fehring, Marionville, Brenda Wake and husband Jeff, Billings and Mary Wright, Hurley; brothers, Heath Foster, Springfield, and Kevin Wise and wife Ginger, Purdy and several nieces and nephews who were very special to him.
Mr. McCann was born Dec. 7, 1961, in Monett, to Lloyd Samuel McCann Jr. and Martha May. He attended school in Wheaton and worked several years at O’Sullivan Industries in Lamar.
He enjoyed making people laugh and had a laugh that was contagious. He loved being outdoors, doing activities such as kayaking, gardening and hunting. He was an avid fisherman, but one had to really watch him. He liked to make people believe his fish were way bigger than they actually were, he even had a trick to make them appear larger in pictures.
He loved everyone and his final words were “love everyone” in hopes his family and friends would carry on his love for others.
