GREENFIELD-Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Greenfield Funeral Chapel for Loyd Winton Hargis, 89, Greenfield, who died Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, at his home. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Survivors include his daughter, Deann Miller and husband Charles; his son, Blain Higgins and wife Gena; three grandchildren, Jolene Standley and husband Shawn, Jennifer Feller and husband Douglas and Chase Hargis and wife Lexi; four great-grandchildren, Lakin Standley, Kinder Standley, Ashby Feller and Maxen Feller; a brother, Charles Hargis; two sisters-in-law, Patsy Hargis and Marge Hargis; a brother-in-law, Billy Routh and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Francis Plumb and her husband Mark and two brothers, Harvey Hargis and Walter Buster Hargis.

Mr. Hargis was born Feb. 17, 1926, near Neola, to James Wesley and Mary Elizabeth (Killingsworth) Hargis. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a lifetime cattleman. He became a Christian in 2000.

He married Jewell Judy Routh in 1954 while living and working in Kansas City. They shared 55 years of married life together before she died on Feb. 5, 2011.
