JEWELL “EVELYN” MARTI

LAMAR- Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Apostolic Christian Faith Church in Pittsburg, Kan., for Jewell Evelyn Marti, 89, Lamar, who died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022, at Medicalodges of Frontenac in Frontenac, Kan. Burial will begin at 1:30 p.m., at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Lamar.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the funeral home and again from 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., before the service at the church.

Survivors include four sisters-in-law, Mary Thorburn, Russellville, Ark., Joyce Thorburn, McPherson, Kan., Allene Steffen and husband Jerry, Goodfield, Ill. And Theresa Marti, Burlington, Iowa, along with many nieces and nephews. Other survivors she considered to be her family include Calvin and Jodi Luthi, Lamar and their children, Audrey Rokey and husband Aaron and their children, Maya and Camden, Morris, Minn., Jessica Braker and husband Jesse and their daughter, Alayna, Ryan Luthi and wife Samantha and their son Owen, all of Jasper, Jared Luthi, Caleb Luthi, Nathan Luthi, Amber Luthi, Austin Luthi, Danielle Luthi and Clint Luthi, all of Lamar.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Jeff; an infant daughter, Nancy; her parents and two brothers, Winford Thorburn and Archie "Leroy" Thorburn.

Mrs. Marti was born Jan. 3, 1933, in Hastain, to James Walton Thorburn and Luyla Bell (Vincent) Thorburn. She married Leonard Lewis “Joe” Marti on July 30, 1955, in Lamar.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Apostolic Christian Faith Church in Pittsburg, Kan.
