Community members gathered in the family life center at the Lamar United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 5, for the annual Numana project. Those helping with the project made up 29,916 packages, with each package feeding six people. Once at their destination, the bags are mixed with water and heated and will provide nutrients needed for starving children. The meals packaged Saturday will be going to El Salvador. Numana is a 501(c)3 public charity in El Dorado Kan., that was formed in 2008 as an international hunger relief organization. Their mission is to empower people to serve the starving. The church provides the workers and the place to have the event and Numana brings the products needed and ships them to the needed countries. Numana also serves the United States in disaster relief.
