Senior center holds a day of celebration

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger The Barton County Senior Center in Lamar observed a triple celebration on Thursday, March 17, as they recognized the 50th anniversary of the senior nutrition program through the Older Americans Act. Also included in the celebration at the center was recognition of the birthday honorees, complete with a birthday dinner consisting of fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, peas and carrots, salad and a roll, along with a piece of birthday cake. The Red Hat Ladies also were present for the festivities as they were dressed in their red and purple regalia. The activities were photographed by Kayla Barnhart, head of Marketing at Hospice Compassus, who also played a roll in the serving of the meal. Also assisting with the festivities was 127th District State Representative Ann Kelley, who had graciously taken the time off to serve the people of Barton County.
