FLOYD CALDWELL
SHELDON-Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Sheldon for Floyd Arthur Caldwell, 68, Sheldon, who died Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at his home. Pastor Wayne Coble will officiate. Burial will be in Sheldon Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; children, Krystal McCartney and Glenn Richard, Sheldon, Kitty Meisenheimer, Nevada, Colleen Coffin and husband Bill, Sheldon, Sheila Aranyos and husband John, New Richmond, Ohio and Richard Moore, Sheldon; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and siblings Barbara Johnson, Sheldon, Bill Caldwell, Sheldon, Cathy Body, Neosho, Richard Caldwell, Flint, Mich., Marianne Owen, Fowerlerville, Mich., Helen Ronk, Michigan and Dorothy Pehonachek, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by a son, Marcus Moore; a daughter, Kelly Helbig; a grandson, Dusty LaFleur; two brothers, Jimmy Caldwell and Jackie Caldwell and a sister, Rosie Body.
Mr. Caldwell was born Aug. 21, 1947, in Howell, Mich., to James Clarence and Amelia Dana (Grumalot) Caldwell. He was reared in Michigan and later moved to Ft. Meyers, Fla., where he owned and operated American Auto Body Shop, specializing in auto body repairs. He later moved to Sheldon and worked in Lamar for Gilkeys. In 1998 he opened Floyd's Place in Sheldon, which he operated for 17 years until ill health forced his retirement. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was known by many in the Sheldon area as Pops and Grandpa.
In his spare time he enjoyed a variety of interests which included reading magazines, collecting old cars, bowling, golf, fishing and he was an avid pool player.
He married Phyllis Evert Workman on Dec. 7, 1979, in Ft. Myers, Fla.
