Eagles hold Easter egg hunt

The Barton County Eagle No. 4405 had plans to hold its Easter egg hunt on Sunday, April 17, at the Aerie, located at 468 E. Hwy. 160, in Lamar. However, Mother Nature had other plans and it rained that day, causing the event to be postponed to the following week, set to be held on April 24. Unfortunately, it also rained once again prior to the event, making for a very soggy afternoon. Despite the conditions, several turned out to enjoy the hunt. Age groups were broken down into 0-3 years, 4-6 years, 7-9 years and 10-12 years and the Easter Bunny was on hand for a photo op. For more pictures visit their facebook page at Barton Co. The material for the screen will be installed late next week and hopefully, after some tweaking, the Barco will open May 3.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger At the April 15 meeting of the Lamar City Council, Lamar resident Rocky McCulloch invited councilmen and the city administrator to take a tour of the pool facilities on Thursday, April 18, as Mason Banes with KC Gunite was going to do a walk through to see what repairs might entail. Several showed up to view the pools, as well as to hear possible solutions. Banes explained that he had to first find out if the damage was structural or plumbing related. Elaine McCulloch noted that hopes are to retain the outdoor lap pool and to redo the indoor pool so that it could serve as a children’s pool following the removal of the enclosure. Banes is to let the McCullochs, as well as the city, know what he would recommend and the cost it would entail.
