THELMA CORDER
GOLDEN CITY-Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Weng Funeral Chapel in Jasper for Thelma Ilene Corder, 98, a former Golden City resident, who died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at the National Health Care Center in Joplin. Burial will follow in Fasken Cemetery, southeast of Jasper.
Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
Survivors include a son, James L Corder, Ringgold, La.; a granddaughter, Kay Bishop and husband Eddie Lee, Carthage; a grandson, Ron Corder, Springfield, S.D.; three great-granddaughters; seven great-great-grandchildren; a step granddaughter, Sandy Procell and husband John, state of Louisiana; a step-great-granddaughter, as well as a nephew and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by a son, Billy Ray Corder.
Mrs. Corder was born April 18, 1917, on the family farm south of Golden City, to Benjamin and Myrtle (Ensminger) Sites. She was a lifelong Jasper County resident. She was well known for her love of music and the talent she shared with her accordion playing, harmonica and guitar. All who knew her will remember her for her lovely handmade quilts, which numbered many. Thelma continued to share her talents even after her move to Joplin National Health Care.
Thelma was an active member of the Dudenville Methodist Church.
She married Roy Corder on June 17, 1936, in Carthage. He preceded her in death.
