SUSAN CARPENTER

GOLDEN CITY-Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Dudenville Cemetery, south of Golden City, for Susan Lynn Carpenter, 61, who died Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, at Truman Healthcare Center in Lamar.
Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

Survivors include her companion, David, of the home; her mother, Bonnie Carpenter, Golden City; stepchildren, Stacey Wright and husband Brad, Fort Scott, Kan. and Donnie Kleeman and wife Lena, Sheldon; a sister, Cynthia Peterson and husband Tony, Golden City; two nephews, Christopher and Nathan Peterson; six grandchildren, Chelsey Teed and husband Tyler, Carl Junction, Caleb Lovan and wife Caddy, Springfield, Blake Lovan, Lamar and Ella, Emma and Adilynn Kleeman, Sheldon and two great-grandchildren, Jaylin Lovan and Noah Barnes.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Carpenter and a great-grandson, Kaison Barnes.
Ms. Carpenter was born Jan. 3, 1954, in Lamar, to James and Bonnie (Parker) Carpenter. She grew up in Golden City and after graduating from Golden City High School in 1972, she completed beauty school in 1973. As a cosmetologist she owned and operated The Golden Boutique Salon for more than 40 years, retiring in 2013 due to ill health.
She and her companion of 28 years, David Kleeman, made their home in Lamar. In addition to being a friend and confidant to her many clients, she was a devoted grandmother, sister and daughter. In her spare time she enjoyed collecting snowmen, painting ceramics, quilting and any activity that involved her grandkids.
