Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger
MU Extension, AOK and Lamar Community Betterment observed 20 years in the Wolf Building with a celebration that was held Monday, June 6, 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Louis and Loretta Wolf Building is located at 801 E. 12th St., in Lamar and has housed these three entities since its inception. Staff from the three organizations were on hand for a ribbon cutting that was held by the Barton County Chamber of Commerce. The afternoon included two bounce houses furnished by Quantum Athletics LLC, food trucks provided by W.H. Farm Cafe and Sassy Pants and considering how the rain had abated and the sun had come out, making for a warm, humid day, a much enjoyed shaved ice from the Shiver Shack offered a refreshing treat. Yard games for all ages were also set up, as well as the playground being available. Outside of the building, Holli Robison with the Rural Counties Coalition, an anti-drug organization, was set up to provide pertinent information and inside the building were complimentary treats of a slushy punch or water, strawberry, white and chocolate cake made by Kimberly Howarth and gluten free cupcakes and sugar free brownies that were prepared by Sara Morey and Janet Dermott. MU Extension, AOK and Lamar Community Betterment would like to thank the citizens of Barton County for their dedication and support of the community over the years.
