Several attend flag retirement ceremony held in Liberal

Photos courtesy of Elaine Davis The annual Flag Retirement Ceremony was held Tuesday evening, June 14 (Flag Day), at the South City Park in Liberal. Around 40 attended the event that was sponsored by the VFW, American Legion and the Liberal Area Civic Group. A total of 91 flags were retired. Prior to the program Bethany Vore sang the National Anthem and following the folding of the flags, Caleb Vore played Taps. Those participating in the program were Dennis Wilson, Roger Phillips, Bob Garrett, Jimmy Dale Fast, Mike Geblin and Jeremy Brand. The flags were cut up and those that wanted to could place a piece of the flag in the burning fire. Light refreshments were served by the Liberal Area Civic Group.
