WAYNE KIRKPATRICK, JR.

ALVARADO, Texas-Graveside services, with full military honors, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Howell Cemetery, south of Milford, Mo., for Wayne Alan Butch Kirkpatrick, Jr., 57, Alvarado, Texas, formerly of Kenoma, Mo., who died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, at his home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, Mo.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the service, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Survivors include his mother, Darlene, of the home; two daughters, Samantha Kirkpatric Carr, Abilene and Sarah Grace Kirkpatrick, Carthage, Mo.; two brothers, Kelly Kirkpatrick and wife Karen, Lamar, Mo. and Michael Kirkpatrick, of the home; a sister, Barbara Davis and husband Sam, Alvarado; three grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Kirkpatrick, Sr.; a brother, Jack Jay Kirkpatrick and a great-nephew, John Michael Kirkpatrick.

Mr. Kirkpatrick was born Oct. 3, 1958, in Deadwood, S.D., to Wayne Sr. and Darlene (Lamberton) Kirkpatrick. Active and athletic as a young man, he earned a senior rank yellow belt in Judo. On Aug. 21, 1979, he entered the U.S. Navy and was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy while in the service.

With loving, compassionate family support and his indomitable spirit, he was an inspiration to many during his long-time struggle with his health. He was very patriotic and loved his country, as evidenced by his extensive collection of eagles. He enjoyed watching Monday night wrestling and old-time westerns, especially Bonanza and Bat Masterson. He appreciated the companionship of his loyal dog, Max.
