MARGARET RUTH MAGGIE WELDY

JASPER-Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church of Jasper for Margaret Ruth Maggie Weldy, 74, Jasper, who died at her home on Monday, Dec. 14, 2015. Burial will follow in Hackney Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, at the church.

Arrangements were under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home, Carthage.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Jasper or Hackney Cemetery, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Weldy; two daughters, Marni Smith, Joplin and Sharon Weldy, Jasper; two sisters, Charlotte Chilcutt, Edmond, Okla. and Cathy Bittick, Greenbrier, Ark.; one sister-in-law, Betty Burfield, Baldwin; three granddaughters, Kylie Pugh, Tayler Weldy and Devinn Weldy; two great-granddaughters, Jaylynn Pugh and Colbie Lynn McIlvaine and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim Frazier and a brother in infancy.

Mrs. Weldy was born June 12, 1941, in Coal Hill, Ark., to Lloyd and Louise (Karr) Frazier. She was a homemaker and a lifetime Jasper resident. She, along with her husband Jerry, owned and operated Weldy Farms of Jasper for 44 years.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jasper and had also served as a delegate for the Republican party.

She married Jerry Weldy on Dec. 22, 1960, in Miami, Okla.
