TROY DEAN HUDSPETH
LOCKWOOD- Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood for Troy Dean Hudspeth, 68, Lockwood, who died at his home on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, from complications of COPD. Burial will follow in the Lockwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Hour or to the Lockwood Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Valerie; his children, Andrew Hudspeth, Jason Hudspeth and Henry, Jarica Oeltjen and Phillip and Brook Schafer and Ryan; grandson, Chase Oeltjen; one sister, Linda Sue Heilman and Paul; father-in-law, Dwaine Schilling; brothers-in-law, David Schilling and Darren Schilling and Doug and a host of family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Dean and Lita “Boots” Hudspeth and his mother-in-law, Linda Lee Schilling.
Mr. Hudspeth was born Sept. 9, 1953, in Lamar, to Earl Dean and Lita “Boots” (Anderson) Hudspeth. At an early age his family lived in Kansas City, Mo. and Arlington, Texas. In 1957, they moved to a farm near Lockwood.
Mr. Hudspeth was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Lockwood in 1962. He was a lifelong member of the Lockwood community, attending school at Lockwood R-1 and graduating in 1971. He attended Southwest Missouri State University and graduated in 1975 with a B.S. degree in Business Education. He took a surveying job with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and worked across the country. He returned to the farm to help his dad in 1978.
He was a lifelong cattleman and row-crop farmer. He also worked in construction, remodeling and building county bridges. He built several homes and was an excellent contractor for sheet rock application and home repairs.
He first met the love of his life, Valerie Schilling, in the fall of 1975. In 1978 they began dating and were united in marriage on August 24, 1979. They lived and raised all four of their children at their farm. Mr. Hudspeth loved all sports, water skiing, playing cards, fishing, gigging, camping, being outside and spending time with his family. He loved to read and study atlas books and maps. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He served on school and church committees. He served as an FSA USDA committee member and was a lifetime supporter of the Lockwood Farmers Exchange.
