First responders enjoy Lodge of Hope’s annual appreciation day

Peterson Outdoors Ministries/Lodge of Hope held its 5th Annual Appreciation event on Saturday, Aug. 20. The day offered fun and tests of skill throughout the day, with many activities that could be enjoyed by the large group that gathered on this beautiful day that was filled with sunshine. During the noon time a free lunch was served inside the lodge, along with entertainment being provided by Benjamin Stanley Owens and an amazing presentation of two paintings that were presented to the families of Joplin fallen police officers, Jake Reed and Ben Cooper. Officer Rick Hirshey, who was wounded when the suspect that the others were apprehending, was the guest speaker for the event. Many others received much deserved recognition, along with sponsored prizes that were presented to various first responders who were attending. Following the meal, there was a time to either visit or to enjoy more of the many outside activities that were being offered for the day.
