Lamar Democrat presents check to Lamar Free Fair

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger The Lamar Democrat recently presented a check from proceeds raised through the ad sales for the Lamar Free Fair Guide that was published this year on July 20. This yearly publication is distributed to all households in Barton County and the town of Jasper, as well as being distributed throughout Lamar. A portion of all ad sales go directly to the Lamar Free Fair to help defray costs associated with the fair guide, as the Lamar Democrat is dedicated to the success of the fair. Photos courtesy of Cecil Fyock The Lamar 8 Second Chute Out Bullriding Nationals delighted those attending on Friday and Saturday evenings, June 6 and 7, at The Stompin’ Grounds in Lamar. Thirty-eight riders, competing on 42 bulls for a total of 77 rides over the two nights of the show, excited the spectators with heart pounding action. Participants were from as far away as Brazil, Mexico and El Salvador, with several being from the United States.
