Wyatt Earp Fallfest enjoyed by many

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger A large crowd took advantage of the beautiful weather as they ventured to the Wyatt Earp Fallfest held Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Wyatt Earp Park on the northeast corner of the Lamar square. The fallfest featured live music, festival food, crafts, a beer garden, a Wild West Dog Show, a baby and toddler show and a kid’s corner that was set up on the north side of the park. Vendors, that were kept busy throughout the day, surrounded the park that featured several full picnic benches, with others having brought lawn chairs. The day was deemed a huge success by those attending.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger At the April 15 meeting of the Lamar City Council, Lamar resident Rocky McCulloch invited councilmen and the city administrator to take a tour of the pool facilities on Thursday, April 18, as Mason Banes with KC Gunite was going to do a walk through to see what repairs might entail. Several showed up to view the pools, as well as to hear possible solutions. Banes explained that he had to first find out if the damage was structural or plumbing related. Elaine McCulloch noted that hopes are to retain the outdoor lap pool and to redo the indoor pool so that it could serve as a children’s pool following the removal of the enclosure. Banes is to let the McCullochs, as well as the city, know what he would recommend and the cost it would entail.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger A total of $3600 was raised at the car and jeep show held Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Lamar Christian Church Parking lot, with proceeds to benefit the new Barco Drive-In screen tower. Pictured are, left to right, Lamar Bank & Trust President Pat O’Neal, Barco Drive-In Theatre fundraiser director Landin Myers and representing the Plaza/Barco and Lamar Community Betterment, Scott Kelley. Anyone wishing to donate can do so at the bank, or drop it by the Plaza Theatre on the south side of the square.
