Members of the Lamar Cross Country teams that qualified to compete at the Class 3 State Cross Country meet left the high school 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, in order to compete at the State meet to be held at Gans Creek course in Columbia, Mo., on Saturday, Nov. 5. The girls will run first, followed by the boys. Following the loading of the bus, the runners took time for various pictures as many family members and friends were present to give them a sendoff. Boys qualifying and pictured by their signs included Pierce Heins, Ryder Friend, Quintin Webb, Colton Nance, Blaine Breshear, Cameron Bailey and Ethan Ball. Kiersten Potter was the lone girl runner. She is also the first Lamar female cross country runner to qualify for State all four years. The bus carrying the runners was escorted around town by the Lamar Police Department, complete with lights blazing. Good luck Lamar Tigers, we know you’ll do your town proud.
