LAMAR- A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church in Lamar for Linda Diane Mitchell, 74, Lamar, who died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield.

Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to the First Christian Church or St. Jude’s, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Charles; two sons, Chuck Burke, Belfair, Wash. and Devon Tourtillott and wife Tara, Carl Junction; one daughter, Kristina Tourtillott, Nevada, Mo.; four grandchildren, Alex Coverdale, Riley Long, Payton Long and Madison Tourtillott and three great-grandchildren, Levi Coverdale, Carter Coverdale and Isaac Coverdale.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, LaDonna Ervin and a brother-in-law, Billy Ervin.

Mrs. Mitchell was born July 23, 1948, in Nevada, Mo., to Clifford Orben Smith and Margaret Rowena (Roberts) Smith. She married Charles Alvin Mitchell, Jr., on April 29, 2001, in Independence.

Mrs. Mitchell worked many years at Butler feedlot as a DOT manager for Sutherland's in Kansas City and for KCPL in Kansas City.

She loved her faith and her family. She loved attending her grandchildren’s events and spending time with family, including her church family. She was involved in church activities including Meals on Wheels and loved helping fold the church bulletins. She loved horses, the outdoors and loved to travel when they were able. She was an avid reader and spent many hours writing scripture and prayers in her notebooks. She was very charitable, donating monthly to Disabled American Veterans, St Jude’s and BGE.
