MICHAEL LYNN FORD

SHELDON- A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, Mo., for Michael Lynn Ford, 75, Sheldon, who died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
Memorials are suggested in his name to the American Lung Association, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include his son, Albert Ford, Sheldon; one brother, John Ford and wife Shiela, Lamar; a brother-in-law, Clayton Hayes, Cranston, RI; one niece, Lara Hayes; five nephews, Nicholas Hayes, Andrew Breen, Dominic Molon, Grant Ford and Pierce Ford and one great-nephew, John Molon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Linda Hayes; maternal grandparents, Warren and Hazle Lindley and paternal grandparents, John Albert and Eva Ford.
Mr. Ford was born Oct. 31, 1947, in Nevada, Mo., to John D. and Lurline (Lindley) Ford. As a child he resided in the states of Washington, New York, California and Missouri, as well as Germany and the Panama Canal Zone prior to returning to Sheldon.
He graduated from Sheldon High School in 1965, and Missouri Southern State College in 1968. He then served in the United States Navy from 1968 – 1976. Following his years in the service, he began a career in nuclear energy, working in Kansas and in Arkansas. He retired from Huntington Ingalls in Newport News, VA in 2017. At that time, he returned to his hometown of Sheldon to live out his retirement.
He was an Eagle Scout, a NASCAR fan and a college football fan.
