BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan.-Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Lake Cemetery in Lamar for Helen M. Manning, 89, who died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015.

Arrangements are under the direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home, Lamar, Mo.

Survivors include two granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Norman Manning, on Aug. 12, 2009.

Mrs. Manning was born Jan. 11, 1927, in Lamar, Mo., to Frank and Lotte (Ward) Johnson. She was reared in Lamar and was a 1944 Lamar High School graduate. She was baptized at the Christian church at the age of 14 and considered herself a lifelong member.

She married Terry E. Manning on June 30, 1946, in Lamar, Mo., after he returned home from serving in the Army during World War II. His work with the Frisco Railroad took the young couple to Baxter Springs, where they made their home. He preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 2006.
