LIBERAL- A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Oakton Church in Lamar for Richard Loy Carley, 71, Liberal, who died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, at Landmark Hospital in Joplin.

Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Contributions may be made to Oakton Church, through Parker Mortuary.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Glenda (Hogeland) Carley and her children, Tracy Overman and husband Howard, Liberal, Charlotte Wrestler, Liberal and Roger Wrestler and wife Amy, Carl Junction; grandchildren, Taylor Overman and Brooke, Ashley Cole and Jakeob, Brandon Overman, Allie Wrestler and Riley Wrestler; great-grandchildren, Rhett Overman and Walker Overman and a brother, Don Carley and wife Linda, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Mr. Carley was born June 18, 1951, in Sapulpa, Okla., to Nathaniel Loy Carley and Cora Belle (Yocham) Carley. He grew up in Sapulpa, where he graduated from high school before earning his degree in Education from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Okla. He was an elementary school teacher for 32 years with the Sand Springs, Okla. School District before retiring.

He enjoyed fishing and spent many hours on Tenkiller Lake and Grand Lake. He was devoted to his wife and loved spending the summer months with her and his family. After retiring, they moved to Liberal, where he enjoyed the friendships made at the Oakton Church where he attended.
