He knew from an early age that he wanted to be a farmer like his father and his grandfather. He and his father operated Hughes Family Farms, which has operations in Missouri, Kansas and Arkansas. He was featured in Fortune 500 magazine as a young leader in agriculture and was a part of the documentary depicting the life of an American Farmer called “Against the Grain”.

Mr. Hughes had a great respect for nature and the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends. There were lots of stories told and memories made about the deer camp, quail hunts and Lake of the Ozark’s boy’s weekends.

He had a huge heart and was always happy to help others and supported many organizations in the region including the Vernon County Youth Fair, Vernon County Cancer Relief and The Children’s Center. When asked for help, it was common for him to simply say “how much do you need?”
