NAOMA SCHLICHTING

LAMAR-Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Daniel Funeral Home for Naoma Irene Schlichting, 90, Lamar, who died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, at Truman Healthcare Center. Burial will be in Paradise Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to Paradise Cemetery or the Alzheimer's Association, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include three sons, Charles Schlichting and wife Becky, Jasper, Steve Schlichting and wife Sharon, Taborville and Doug Schlichting and wife Elaine, Lamar; seven grandchildren, Scott Schlichting, Athena Hughes, Matt Schlichting and wife Angie, Mike Schlichting and wife Katie, Kendall Heumader and husband Matt, Randy Schlichting and Dusty Schlichting; seven great-grandchildren, William Hughes, Michaela Schlichting, Taylor Hughes, Megan Schlichting, Andrew Schlichting, Dalton Schlichting and Waylin Schlichting and one great-great-grandchild, Trinity Hughes.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Schlichting, on June 2, 1989.

Mrs. Schlichting was born Feb. 18, 1925, at Girard, Kan., to James Andrew and Nettie Mae (Lowe) Atkinson. She attended country school in Jasper County. She was a homemaker, always raising a large vegetable garden every summer and in the winter she would sew beautiful quilts. She was a member of the Dorcas Circle Quilting Group at the Jasper United Methodist Church, a member of the Red Hat Society and the Surviving Spouses group.

She married Reynold Adolph Slick Schlichting on June 30, 1943. He died June 22, 1992.
