ASBURY- Masonic services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler for Earl Roger Seeley, 81, Asbury, who died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023, at Cox Barton County Hospital in Lamar. Burial with military honors will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler.

A visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m.

Contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Seeley, Asbury; a son, Steven Seeley and wife Carmen, Asbury; three grandchildren, David Seeley and fiancé Trinity McDowell, Sterling Earl Seeley and Stephanie Seeley and two great-grandsons, Jonathan and Dustin Seeley.

Mr. Seeley was born April 23, 1941, to Earl Edwin and Myrtle Irene Alkire Seeley in Red Oak, Iowa.

An only child, he grew up in Butler, where he attended school and was a 1959 graduate of Butler High School. He received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1976 and later a Masters in Business Administration in 1978 from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg. He was a senior field engineer for Bechtel until his retirement in 1998. After his retirement he became a rancher, raising Registered Angus. Due to his work Mr. Seeley had lived all over the world before settling in Miami, Fla. and then moving to Asbury in 1995.

He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and member of the American Legion in Pittsburg, Kan. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Butler and was a Shriner. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Nevada, Mo.

Mr. Seeley was known as honorable, brave, intelligent, loving and a family man. He was a musician, playing guitar and piano and putting himself through college while in a band. His other pastimes included playing golf and doing leather work.
