Mr. Lowrance was born April 1, 1942, in Golden City, to George Walter and Opal May (Ambler) Lowrance. He grew up in Golden City and was a 1959 graduate of Lamar High School, which he attended due to the school’s excellent music program. He was an accomplished clarinetist at an early age and received a music scholarship from Juilliard. While attending Juilliard, he met and married Etsko Tazaki.

He was a professional musician, playing worldwide. Unfortunately, health issues forced him to retire from playing professionally in 1971. He moved back to Golden City, where he took over his family’s business, a local general store. In 1983 he began work with Key Industries as a traveling clothing salesman. His last job was as a caregiver at Cole County Residential Services. He considered this the most rewarding job of his life.

Music was his passion and he cherished his time with the Columbia Symphony and the Jefferson City Symphony Orchestra. He was an avid sports fan and a proud Kansas City Chiefs season ticket holder for many years. He appreciated time outdoors and looked forward to fishing around central Missouri.

He had a servant’s heart. Known for putting others first, he will be remembered for his generosity and always being in good spirits. His huge smile, happy demeanor and infectious laughter will be missed by all who knew him.
