GOLDEN CITY-Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Christian Church in Golden City for Bonnie Louise Parker, 84, rural Golden City, who died at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, at her home. Rev. Terry Longan will officiate. Burial will be in First Christian Church I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Music will be provided by Claude Howard, organist, with pallbearers being Chris Peterson, Nate Peterson, Gary Gillen, Brian Gillen, Neil Rosenthal and Wayne Keatts.

Arrangements are under the direction of Pugh Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church in Golden City.

Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Peterson and husband Tony, Golden City and two grandsons, Chris Peterson, Golden City and Nate Peterson and wife Deidre, Nixa.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Carpenter.

Mrs. Carpenter was born Sept. 18, 1931, in rural Golden City, to George Hall and Velma Fay (Stiles) Parker. She was a lifetime Golden City area resident and graduated from Golden City High School in 1949. She spent her life as a farmer's wife, in addition to driving a school bus and working as the secretary for the R-3 Golden City Elementary School for many years, before retiring in 2007.

She was a very active member of the First Christian Church in Golden City, teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir and being the organist and pianist for many years. She was also a member of the Morris Grove Extension Club, Golden City Booster Club and the Retired Teachers Organization. She supported and attended many school activities and especially enjoyed being at her grandsons' sporting events.

She had many hobbies and interests, including fishing, camping and taking the boat out, sewing and making many of her daughters' clothes, playing solitaire and Pitch and cooking, But one of the things she loved to do the most was give of her time, energy and love.

She married James Jim Carpenter on Oct. 21, 1950, in Bentonville, Ark. He died Aug. 25, 2012.
