He was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Marti; two brothers, Alvin Marti and Ervin Marti and two sisters, Ruth Schrock and Corrine Roth.

Mr. Marti was born Sept. 11, 1930, in Barton County, the fifth of the eight children of Fred and Anna (Kaufman) Marti. In addition to being a lifelong farmer, he had also worked for a few years at Lawn Boy in Lamar. On July 30, 1955, he married Jewell Evelyn Thorburn and they made their home and reared their son, Jeffrey, on the farm. A devoted husband and father, he was a spiritual leader, a quiet, patient teacher and role-model for many more than just his immediate family. While no one could fill the void left when his son Jeff died as a teenager, due to a heart condition, he continued to be an admired father figure and was loved deeply by a large extended family.
