ALFRED BANWART
LAMAR- Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Apostolic Christian Church for Alfred Banwart, 80, Lamar, who died Wednesday, May 3, 2023. A visitation will be held at the church prior to the service, beginning at 9 a.m.
A visitation will also be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, at the Konantz Warden Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Sabetha Apostolic Christian Church Nursing Home or the Apostolic Christian Church of Barton County.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; children, Jonathan Banwart and wife Beth, Lamar, Ulista Banwart, Sabetha, Kan. and Venetta Banwart, Lamar; grandsons, Daniel, Jacob, Kevin and Jeffrey Banwart, Lamar; a sister, Eileen Braker and husband Don, Sabetha, Kan.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Robert Meyer, Rachel Meyer, Joe and Marcella Steiner, Paul and Delores Metzger, Roger and Ilene Hartter, Larry and Shirley Ifft, Cheryl Moore, Manuel and Mary Gerber and David and Diana Gerber and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Banwart was born March 24, 1943, in Pittsburg, Kan., to Oscar and Caroline (Marti) Banwart. He attended rural Oakton School for 3 ½ years and then attended Lamar schools, graduating in 1961. He had a dairy farm and worked at O’Sullivan Industries for 26 years.
He married Charlotte Ann Meyer on Feb. 14, 1973, in Fairbury, Ill. and to this union three children were born. She died May 7, 1987. He married Carolyn Jean Gerber on Jan. 31, 1988, in West Bend, Iowa.
