A retirement reception was held for Dr. Zach Harris on Wednesday, May 17. The reception, held at the Lamar Middle School cafeteria from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., was attended by several as family and friends, as well as coworkers, gathered to wish Dr. Harris a fond farewell. Dr. Harris has been with the Lamar R-1 School District for 19 years, having served the past 10 years as superintendent of schools. The school system has prospered under his tutelage. Everyone hopes that with retirement comes leisure (which of course includes golf) and members of the school board were on hand for a special presentation of a driver. Also presented to Dr. Harris was the naming of the bus barn street behind East Primary School as Dr. Zach Harris Drive. Dr. Harris is wished all the best in his future endeavors. He will be missed.
