MARGUERITE MARIE BUZZARD

LAMAR- Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Daniel Funeral Home for Marguerite Marie Buzzard, 84, Lamar, who died Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Cox Barton County Hospital in Lamar. A private burial will be held at a later time.

The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 11 a.m.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to Milford Christian Church or Barton County Eagles No. 4405, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include one son, Jim Buzzard and wife Lisa and two daughters, Janet McArthur and husband Charles and Jacqueline Speights, all of Lamar; five grandchildren, Katie McArthur, Anya Gripka and husband Tyler, Alexa Buzzard, Laura Speights and Cole Speights and wife Tabby; seven great-grandchildren, Dezmon, Darionna, Maggie, T'Lenn, Taylum, Lynlee and Lucille; two brothers, John Rawlings and wife Jody, Fredricktown and Richard Rawlings and wife Martha, Fairland, Okla. and one sister, Kathryn Sherron, Kansas City, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lee; her daughter, Joyce Buzzard; two brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Buzzard was born Oct. 15, 1938, in Liberal, to Wilmer Fay "Bud" Rawlings and Ladye Nell (Yoke) Rawlings. She graduated as valedictorian from Liberal High School in the class of 1956. On October 27, 1957, she married Leonard "Lee" Buzzard in Liberal.

She was a homemaker and stay-at-home mom until her children reached school age. In 1970 she started working at the Lamar ASCS office, then worked in the Lamar MFA office. In 1981 she bought and started Marguerite's Secretarial Service and ended her career working at the XChanger in Lamar.
