Variety of animals introduced by Dickerson Park Zoo

Over 150 were in attendance on Wednesday, June 14, at the Mary K. Finley Library in Lamar, for a program that was presented by the Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield. Animals such as a chinchilla, a kestrel and a snake were introduced to those attending, with the children being able to experience the animals by touching them. Following the presentation at the library, a second program was then presented to the Lamar R-1 summer school students. The next scheduled program will be Wednesday, June 28, at 10 a.m. and will be presented by the Lamar Fire Department. All are welcome to join them. The summer reading program is made possible through the Institute of Museums and Library Services.
