GREENFIELD- Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Main St. Baptist Church in Greenfield for Charles Allen Cross, 68, who died Friday, June 23, 2023. Burial will be in Kings Point Cemetery, southeast of Lockwood.

A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, at Greenfield Funeral Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ozarks Food Harvest.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Andrea; their children, Sheila Buus and husband Stephen, Greenfield, Philip Cross and wife Keiana, Edmond, Okla. and Annette Wagoner and husband Scott, Webb City; grandchildren, Josiah and Isaiah Wagoner, Selah and Karis Cross and Ellie Buus; a brother, Roger Cross, Las Vegas, Nevada and a sister, Lois Knab, Lebanon.

He was preceded in death by his father, stepfather, mother and his youngest brother Norman.

Mr. Cross was born July 22, 1954, to Robert “Bob” Allen and Alice Barbour. After their divorce his mother married Earl Cross, who later adopted Charles and his siblings.

He met his wife, Andrea Spain Cross, at Southwest Baptist University. Together they raised a family and worked side-by-side in several different churches in Southwest Missouri. He served as pastor at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Newport Baptist Church, Hulston New Hope Church for nearly 14 years, Sharon Baptist Church and most recently as pastor of House of Prayer Fellowship in Greenfield, at which he was serving as pastor at his death.

Most people in the area knew him from his 40+ year career with Meeks Lumber Company. He worked in the Greenfield store for many years, then served a short stint at the Republic Meeks and then the last 10 years of his career at the Meeks Design Center in Springfield.

He loved people and served both Springfield hospitals for several years in that capacity. He was also trained and certified as a chaplain for the Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief team.

Since his retirement he helped with Ozarks Food Harvest and Greenfield Ministerial Alliance.
