He was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Elaine Mather.
Mr. Mather was born June 11, 1974, in Fairfax, to Kenneth Dale Mather and Susan Elaine (Wolfe) Mather. He spent his early years in Tarkio. The family moved to Joplin in 1984 and eventually settled in Carthage, where he graduated from high school in 1992. He furthered his education by studying business and accounting, earning a double major in Economics/Finance and Accounting from MSSU, where he would later achieve a Master’s Degree in Accounting.
Mr. Mather was always very active in his church and took on leadership roles such as teaching Sunday school classes for high schoolers, serving as a worship leader and managing computer operations and screens during worship. He truly loved the Lord and tried to show God’s love in everything he did. He was a kind soul, with both a servant’s heart and a quirky sense of humor. His devotion to God and to his family is what sustained him along his difficult journey.
He married Shan (Flenniken) Mather in 1999 and they raised three sons. He was completely devoted to his family and selflessly put them first in everything that he did. Even after he was diagnosed with cancer in 2016, he did not worry as much about himself as he did for those who he would eventually leave behind. He eventually slipped away peacefully at home.
