RICKY LYNN HAMPTON

LAMAR- A memorial visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, at Daniel Funeral Home for Ricky Lynn Hampton, 67, Lamar, who died Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie; three sons, Eric Hampton, California, Brian Duncan and wife Jenni and Kelly Duncan, all of Lamar; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rebecca Hampton, Kissee Mills and Sandra Minor, Cortland, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John Hampton and Ron Hampton.

Mr. Hampton was born July 19, 1956, in Kennett, to John W Hampton and Erma Mae (Mitchell) Hampton. He married Debbie Jean Mason on July 26, 1998, in Lamar.

He was self-employed as a contractor. He loved working in his yard and received "Yard of the Month" several times from the Barton County Master Gardner's Club. He was also known to be a "tailgate philosopher" and could talk to anyone about anything at any given time. He served in the United States Marine Corp until he was honorably discharged on May 22, 1980 and then served in the Army Reserves until he was honorably discharged on April 22, 1986.
