Free hot dogs were handed out by Lamar Police Chief Joe Moore and CRO Robert Lawrence, Jr. on Tuesday night, Aug. 1, as the community came together for the annual National Night Out. A large crowd gathered around the area that was roped off for the K9 demonstration that was provided by Barton County Sheriff officers Chief Deputy Justin Ehrsam and Sgt. Toby Luce, along with their K9’s Barrett, Magnum and Tosca. Booths were set up by the Girl Scouts and AOK, as well as the Lamar Elks Lodge 2800 trailer that not only provided pertinent information, but gave individuals a chance to see what it would feel like to do a balance test while wearing special vision impaired glasses. Also on display were several emergency vehicles provided by the law enforcement agencies, as well as the Barton County Ambulance and Lamar Fire Department.
