DENNIS LEROY BARNUM

LAMAR- Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, at Daniel Funeral Home for Dennis Leroy Barnum, 69, Lamar, who died Tuesday, July 4, 2023. Burial followed at Rockville Cemetery in Rockville.

Survivors include four sisters, Sharon Ray, Eagle Rock, Barbara Wolf and husband Steven, Lamar, Janet Leslie, Kansas City, Mo. and Judy Riley and husband Donald, Splendora, Texas; nine nephews, Carl Ray, Gerald Watts, Justin Watts, Jacob Watts, Steven Moore, Christopher Moore, Jeffery Moore, Jerry Barnum and Tyler Barnum and three nieces, Debra Winans, Melissa Chambers and Amber Starman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Venita Barnum, an infant brother, Robert and a brother-in-law, John Ray.

Mr. Barnum was born Nov. 14, 1953, in Kansas City, Mo., to Orval Thomas Barnum and Venita Ann (Kirk) Barnum. He was a 1973 graduate of El Dorado Springs High School.

He attended trucking school in Neosho.

Mr. Barnum was a truck driver for CFI and Ganey Trucking, earning several awards. He retired from the U.S. Post Office. He loved fishing, hunting and watching old movies. While he was driving the semi he enjoyed listening to books on tape.
