GERALD LEE SHAVER SR.

LAMAR- A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. Sept. 8, at Daniel Funeral Home for Gerald Lee Shaver, Sr., 85, Lamar, who died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2023, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include six children, Ivy Jean Davis and husband Michael, Lockwood, Lee Shaver Jr. and wife Andrea, Lamar, Joe Shaver and wife Jenny, Lamar, Debra Josephine Pugh, Lamar, Amy Ann Sparks and husband Robert, Sheldon and John Shaver and wife Britney, Lamar.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Arline; one daughter, Rayma Walters; one son, Tracy Walker; three brothers, Charles Shaver, Paul Shaver and John Shaver and one sister, Mary Breedlove.

Mr. Shaver was born Dec. 1, 1937, in Arcadia, Kan., to George Buel Shaver and Mary Barbara (Trautwein) Shaver. He married Thelma Jeanne Talbott on July 18, 1954 and this union resulted in four children, Ivy Jean, Lee Jr., Joe and Debra. He then married Zella Arline Williams on Aug. 10, 1972, in Lamar and this union resulted in two children, Amy Ann and John.

He owned and operated Shaver's Repair Shop for over 55 years. He took great pride in his business and helping his community. He was an avid gun collector and a member of Muddy Creek Muzzle Loaders and enjoyed going on rendezvous with friends and family. He also had a love for steam engines and Volkswagen rabbit vehicles. He loved his family and would do anything for them or anyone in need.
