KANSAS CITY-A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Weng Funeral Chapel in Jasper for Evelene Louise Huffman, 85, Kansas City, who died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, in Northville, Mich. Pastor Wayne Kurtycz of Northridge Church officiated. Burial was at Paradise Cemetery in Jasper.

Survivors include three sons, Bruce Huffman, Florence, Ariz., Robert Huffman, Asheville, N.C. and Dennis Huffman, Howell, Mich.; five grandchildren, Sydney, Caroline, William “Liam”, Ian and Luke Huffman; two sisters, Dorothy Pugh, Carthage and Henrietta Parker and husband Stanley, Golden City and four brothers, Carl Beerly, Harry Beerly, Louis Beerly and Gaylon Beerly, all of Golden City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Huffman and a sister, Stella Kinney.

Mrs. Huffman was born June 24, 1930, in Golden City, to Henry and Edith Beerly. She attended high school at Golden City, graduating in 1948. She went on to take classes at Springfield business school, where she excelled in typing and shorthand. She met her husband, William, when she was waitressing at a local diner in Jasper. They shortly thereafter became husband and wife and were married for over 54 years. She came to know Christ at a young age and served Him throughout her life, volunteering as both adult and children leadership roles in her local church. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, but most of all spending time with family and friends and neighbors.
