Lamar squeaks past Webb City Blue

The fifth grade Lamar Tigers took on Webb City Blue on Saturday, Sept. 9, at their home stadium of Thomas M. O’Sullivan Stadium. The Tigers managed to battle Webb City Blue in the waning minutes of the game, coming out ahead 14-0. Their next game will be away as they play Joplin Blue, followed the week after on September 23 being held in Neosho, against Neosho Gold. They will return to their home field on Saturday, Sept. 30. Be sure to come cheer them on. The fifth grade Tigers play at 11:30 a.m. Also playing are the sixth grade Tigers at 10 a.m., the fourth grade at 1 p.m. and the third grade at 2:30 p.m. Spectators are always encouraged.

Alyssa Mitchell, an incoming junior at Lamar High School who is a member of the Tiger tennis team, recently placed second in singles in the Lebanon Tournament. She played in four matches that included players from Lebanon, Republic, Branson, Waynesville and Springfield. Alyssa’s parents are Joanna Moore and Ron Delrosario, Lamar. Ron began Alyssa’s tennis career at the age of 10 and has dedicated many years to help her get to where she currently is.

Drone photo by Joe Davis A capacity crowd at the Barco Drive-In was a site to behold on Friday night, July 19. According to Scott Kelley, theatre manager, sales are cut off at 310 cars and unfortunately some had to be turned away. No fears though as Twisters A Quiet Place, rated PG-13, will be playing at the drive-in every night through Thursday, July 25. An interesting note – The original Twisters movie that was released in 1996 proved to be a sell out as well.
