LIBERAL-Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Konantz Warden Chapel for Ruth Marie “Nanny” Browning, 79, Liberal, who died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Ft. Scott, Kan., following a short illness. Burial was at Liberal City Cemetery.

Survivors include a son, Robert “Max” Browning and wife Susan, Severn, Md.; three daughters, Rosemary Thompson, Nevada, Mo. and Deanna Weber and Euleta Barger and husband Joseph, Liberal; eight grandchildren, Thomas, Charity, Joshua, Alyssa, Trisha, Tamelia, Jennifer and Joseph; 11 great-grandchildren, Madison, Leah, Megan, Seth, Brandon, Nathan, Jeremy, Shannen, McKenna, Tallon and Corey; a brother, Faunt Thomas Dickerson, Liberal and a sister, Clora Teel, Trona, Calif.

Mrs. Browning was born June 6, 1936, in Joplin, to Robert and Treasure Alberta (Settles) Dickerson. She had resided in Liberal for the past 50 years. She referred to herself as a domestic engineer, spending most of her time outdoors, tending to her beautiful yard that had an abundance of flowers blooming in the springtime. The “outdoors” was her natural habitat and she loved fishing. She was an avid “Facebook” user and had friends from all over the world. She was kown to send encouraging words to friends near and far and they were touched by her kindness, love and friendship.

She married Richard “Dick” Browning on Feb. 25, 1956. He preceded her in death.
