Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger A large number of individuals lined up along Highway 160 in Lamar as the Life Chain was formed on Sunday, Oct. 1, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. The majority of individuals were lined up in front of the Lamar Christian Church, while others gathered in front of Katie’s House Pregnancy and Family Resource Center. The annual occurrence, which takes place every first Sunday in October, is part of the international event to declare that life is precious, beginning at conception.

Lamar’s Promenade 2025 was held from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, at the Wyatt Earp Park. Prom attendees entered from the back of the stage and were announced as they walked across the stage, down the stairs and then up the walkway. Thankfully the weather allowed the promenade to be held at the park, with a large crowd gathering to view the many seniors prior to attending their prom that was held at the Gaderian in Carthage.

Naomi Schneider, daughter of Luke and Tanya Schneider, is the sixth grade Lamar Middle School Student of the Week. In her free time Naomi enjoys horseback riding, fishing with her brother, drawing, listening to music and playing outside. She has ducks, geese, horses, a dog, outside cats, chickens, bunnies and turkeys. Some things that are important to Naomi are family, grades and pets.
